     “May the odds be over in your favor,” said Effie Trinket. The Hunger Games book was written by Suzanne Collins and she is a famous writer. I have finished reading and watched The Hunger Games. I felt there are some differences between the movie and book. Are you surprised? There are 3 differences in situation, story and characters of The Hunger Games book and movie..

     First, there is less grotesque scene in the movie than the book because if they use more grotesque scenes, the film would be restricted and many young children can’t watch the movie. They won’t earn very much. Especially, fight scenes, injuring scenes and death scenes. In book, there are lots of details about grotesque scenes. For example, when Katniss saw the girl and tigers, she had to fight to them and it is grotesque. It is also grotesque when she and Peeta had fight to Cato.

     Next, there are differences in the story between book and movie. When Rue dies, District 11 people riot and try to kill the peacekeepers in the movie. However, this scene isn’t in the book. However, the sponsor gave a loaf of bread for Katniss in the book. According to Reading Chapter 18 the later summary by Yusuke Suzuki, “Chapter 18 of The Hunger Games, starts with Katniss finding the bread. She thinks why people of District 11 sent it to her. She soon understands it is meant for Rue, surely as her kindness. She thanks District 11 and takes it.” There isn’t this scene. In addition, Katniss got mocking jay pin from Prim in book, but she got it from the Hob in movie.

     Finally, there are differences in characters between the book and movie. The head gamemaker is named that is Seneca and he is an important character in the movie. He dies from eating poison berries, because Katniss and Peeta could together win. However, the game maker is minor character and he isn’t dead in the book. In the book, there is Avox girl and she plays in the book in many scenes but, she is in few scenes in the movie. Peeta’s dad and Katniss’s mom are minor characters in the movie but in the book, they are important.

     I felt there are many differences especially about situation, story and characters between the book and movie, The Hunger Games. There are less grotesque than book, different story between the movie and book and different characters. We can understand story easily in movie. In book, we have to imagine what’s happening. I think it is also difference is interesting.

     The Hunger Games movie has made archery more popular for children in the U.S. For this reason, Katniss has influenced children and they were influenced by Katniss. Katniss influenced them by fighting with bow and arrows in the movie. When they see this scene, they must think it is cool and we want to be like Katniss. Archery makes us to imagine about the Olympics because archery is one of the Olympics games, so everybody wants to try and watch the games this time because of The Hunger Games. Katniss is a hero now because she made archery famous. Nowadays, Fathers and daughters play archery together and it is cool because we can communicate to our family through playing archery. Therefore, we can try archery very easily because we don’t need to make a team, so we can do archery alone. That why archery is popular today in the U.S.A.

What can we do in North Carolina?

What can we do in North Carolina?

     I recommend to visit and stay in North Carolina if you are one of The Hunger Games’ fans. Especially, I recommend and see 4 days trip because you can experience many fun things such as visit the Mellark family bakery, the forest and restaurant which is shown in movie. You can also have meals and have training as attribute. In the training, you’ll be good at bow and arrows because you’ll practice how to use them during the training. I want you to go and enjoy it in North Carolina when summer came because there are lots of outdoor things to do like training. I recommend to go there in summer vacation. Get your airplane ticket now!!

My opinion about The Hunger Games

The Hunger Games

     I have seen The Hunger games movie and I feel it is a very interesting, deep and thoughtful story for 2 reasons. First, this story is drawn comparing such as rich people and poor people. I think it could happen to us in the future. Some people already have lost their job, money, home, family and friends. I think the author tells us about our future. Our future could be dangerous and hard to survive so we should be careful. Second, I felt sad when Rue died because Rue is Katniss’s close friend even though they have to kill each other. I was very impressed in this scene and cried a lot. I think friends are very important for my life and I don’t want to lose my friends so I was really sad. I also felt sad when Peeta and Katniss went back to their District 12 because Katniss have to play romance in front of Gale. I  think Gale and Katniss are not just friends because I saw Gale’s lonely face when she kissed Peeta so I think Gale almost loves Katniss but he just doesn’t notice his feeling yet. I have another sad scene. It is when Katniss was caught by Thresh, he let her run away. It’s so sad because we can feel Thersh’s kindness so I was really sad when Thresh was killed. I didn’t want Thersh to die because I think he is kind, nice and honest.

 I’d like to talk about Pow Wow. On Saturday, I went to sparks to learn about Pow Wow. First, I saw they were so colorful and so fancy. Next, I noticed I was hearing hard drumming rhythm while they were dancing. Some people made rhythm for dancing people with a drum. They all drummed some rhythm and they did veru well. They used nice music instrument. Now, I was wondering about their costumes. How did they get them? Where can they buy that costumes? I decided to ask my question. I asked to man about their costumes. “ Where did you get your costume from?” I asked. Then, He laughed, smiled and answered my question. “ We don’t go to syop to buy those costumes. We made them by ourselves. These are all handmade.” I was surprise when I heard it, because I don’t think it’s easy to make these costumes. He invited me to dance with him. I tried to dance hard like them but I couldn’t do that. It was difficult more than I thought. In addition, they competed in dancing contest which was so amazing. They danced very well. Their dancing looked very similar, but they danced different each other. Finally, they were selling fancy hand made accessories,jewelty and small instraments. I was just looking but I really enjoyed it because those were just beautiful. It’s clear that Pow Wow is a great cultual event which Non Native American and Native American also me can get together to dance and have a good time with. I learned a lot by seeing dance with special costumes, hearing the rhythm and feeling Pow Wow. They were shouting some words while they were drumming and I don’t know what are they saying. However, I’m interested in that. Because they told a storu with drumming, interesting,huh? That’s all. Thank you.

  I stayed in Seattle the whole spring break with my friends who names are Koki, Kenshiro and Miyuki in Jason`s house. Jason is Kenshiro`s roommate who is sophomore. Miyuki invited me staying 8 nights and 9 days in Seattle on the phone. I immediately said “Yes!!” A few days later, Kenshiro introduced Jason to me. He is very friendly and funny. The day before leaving Salem, I started to ready for staying. Next day, I was very excited and went to Donny with my suit case and backpack after school on Friday. They were carrying their baggage and loading them into the car. I heard it takes about 3hours and half from Salem to Seattle. Finally, we left Salem!! Kenshiro, Koki and Miyuki bought chocolate as a gift for Jason`s family on the way.

  2hours later, the accident was happened when we were taking a break in parking area. Suddenly, Kenshiro asked me to go to bathroom and see Miyuki because she looks sick. I asked to him “’ What`s happened to her?” He explained about she has a walnut allergy and she ate it in the chocolate shop because it was difficult to understand to. After she ate, she noticed but she thought it was small amount so it`s ok. Although she has experienced eat walnut before and it was not problem to her. When I found her, she fell down in the bathroom. Some people and I carried her. She looks difficult to breath and she was crying. I didn`t know what`s going on. Many people were worried about her and especially, 2 women tried to keeping warm for her by staying next to her and encourage her. Later, an ambulance car arrived to help her and she was taken to hospital. We followed the ambulance and we were very worried about her very much. We couldn`t see her soon even we were in the hospital. Then, only I was allowed to see her. I was very nervous, I walked and walked. I stood in front of the door. I couldn`t open it because I didn`t want to see very bad situation. The nurse opened the door and I entered the room step by step slowly. Then, I saw her and she sit up on the bed. I was relieved and smiled because there was smiling Miyuki. I hugged her.

  We left hospital and arrived Jason`s house at midnight. It took more than 7 hours. First day, we introduced ourselves to his family and went to Olympia which is the capitol of Washington. Jason took us and show around Olympia with his driving. I don`t drive but, I love driving and it was pretty weather. There was beautiful lake in front of his house. When we stayed there, watched 3D movies such as Toy story3, Green Lantern and Avator. Jason taught us how to play Poker and we taught him a new card game. At night, we roasted marshmallows over a fire outside. It was fun. The other day, we did mini golf and had a great time. Koki won the game. We love eating sweets, so we drank tapioca juice and ate crapes. We also ate ice cream topped with candies for the dessert at his house. We decided to make Japanese food dinner for them. We went to Uwajimaya and got some stuff. The first day, we made Okonomiyaki and Somen. The second day we made Gyo-za and Nikujaga. His mom and Dad liked Nikujaga that is kind of vegetable soup. Jason loves Gyo-za and he ate it a lot. We were very happy with that. The another day, we visited Space Needle which is the highest building in Seattle. Did you know that? We had lunch in a restaurant at the top of Space Needle. The seat goes around the building once in 47 minutes. We also visited Safeco Field which Ichiro played there. Another day, we went to the museum of flight. After getting backed to home, Jason took us to the lake by boat. It was very nice view. Of course we went shopping and I bought same dress with Miyuki. Please look at the picture. The final day, Kathy and Steve who are Jason`s parents gave us Mariners T-shirt. We were surprised and they said “thank you for staying here and making dinners. We are very happy.” We wrote messages on the card, bought Lily and made photo frame. Then, we gave them and Jason liked the photo frame. The photo frame is on his desk now.
